In this episode Adam and Vanessa catch up with Brock Armstrong and talk about his new project Workplace Hero - a podcast about taking charge of your deskjob...

Brock Armstrong -

I am what most people would call a "health nut". I am passionate about running, cycling, swimming, hockey, tennis... and, well, fitness in general. I am also passionate about Health & Well Being. My own personal struggle with various health issues have driven me greatly to gather the resources, education and training I have amassed over the last few years.

In December of 2003 I got very ill and contracted pericarditis / myocarditis and spent a lot of time in and out of hospital over the next 1.5 years. I suffered heart failure numerous times, was rushed in for an angiogram, developed an abnormal heart rhythm... and basically had the scare of a lifetime (buy me a coffee sometime and I will tell you all about it).

I have also battled anxiety and depression for most of my teen and adult life. I have incorporated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Hypnotherapy and Yoga into my life and now feel that I have balance in my day.

Currently I am a Marathon and Triathlon Coach, Team in Training certified (running) by Jack "Tupper" Daniels himself. I am also a certified AFLCA Group Fitness Leader with a designation in Portable Equipment (trained by Marjorie O'Connor). I am also a NCCP and CAC Triathlon "Coach in Training".

My history as a professional dancer (trained at the Alberta Ballet and Royal Winnipeg Ballet) gives me a unique understanding of the body and how it moves... and doesn't move.

My partner Eleanor is an RN currently working at one of Canada's largest trauma centres. She is always happy to answer medical questions either off the top of her (very knowledge filled) head or out of one of her vast medical text books.

I have access to some of Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver's top resources in fitness, health, nutrition, relaxation, massage, yoga, breathing, stroller-size, bikes, shoes... you name it! To top it off, I was the voice of Mark Sisson on the Primal Blueprint podcast, Ben Greenfield's "sidekick" on the Ben Greenfield Fitness Podcast and I now work with the Bulletproof Executive, Dave Asprey
